A small tree with deeply cut dark red-purple leaves, turning bright red in autumn. It grows to a height and spread of 5m, and does best in partial shade.  Hardy.

Acer palmatum Bloodgood is a small deciduous tree that typically grows to a height of 15-20 feet and a width of 15-20 feet. It has a slow to moderate growth rate and is usually grown as a specimen tree in gardens and landscapes. The Bloodgood cultivar is known for its striking deep burgundy foliage, which emerges in the spring and holds its color well throughout the growing season.
